Arche-Grundschule Hellersdorf

Hellersdorf school premises

The idea of founding a school in cooperation with the Christian children’s charity “Arche” (“The Ark”) was born at an FESB event in March of 2005. Our plan was turning the former school grounds of the “Bücherwurm-Grundschule” (an elementary school) and two neighboring sites into a new home for that school. Over the next few years a new school building for an elementary school with three classes per grade, an after-school care center and a day-care center will be built in this place.

In the spring of 2006, we were offered another empty school building close by on Naumburger Ring. The advantage of this location was that we were able to start immediately. In August 2006, the time had come: We started with 14 children in the first year; in the second year we had already 22 new first graders. Shortly after the new playground with swings, seesaw, slide, sandbox and merry-go-round was opened. Now more than 80 children are attending  the Arche-Schule in the grades 1 to 5. From August 2010 on the Arche-Schule will be complete with all grades from 1 to 6.

The Arche-Grundschule has been approved by the state since its opening since the school board is accredited.
