Supplementary after-school care in the Christburg-Grundschule

In addition to the elementary schools and the junior high school, our supplementary day care is a part of the FESB Berlin educational institution and is located on our Prenzlauer Berg premises in the left first floor wing and on the second floor of the school building.

Presently, over 210 girls and boys go to our after-school care center.

The after-school care team plays a supplementary and supporting part in the parents’ educational responsibility. Thus the care center is a place where children, parents and visitors feel comfortable, interact and experience caring fellowship, as expressed in our conception.

In order to achieve these significant goals, our work in our supplementary care center in cooperation with parents has the following objectives:

• To further and promote the children’s independence and solidarity in a safe and protective atmosphere.
• To support the children in their acquisition of skills and experience by offering holistic, supporting and playful activities.
• To convey Christian values.
• To train the decision making ability and to support the development into a personality capable of acting.
• To give attention to body, spirit and environment related issues.
• To support the parents by offering advise and consultation.
• To encourage the sharing of experience among parents (Parents Café)

These objectives provide the basis for all that we offer.
