Press release 01/2008 from January 14, 2008
Open house at the junior high school on February 9, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Which junior high school is the right one?
A lot of students will transfer to junior high school this year. At the moment, many parents and students are considering which junior high school might be the right one for them. They will have the opportunity to visit the junior high school of the Free Evangelical Schools Berlin (FESB) on 14 Christburger Straße in Prenzlauer Berg on February 24, 2006 (from 10:00 a.m. on) to obtain detailed information about our school.
The school will be introduced in a power-point-presentation. Following the presentation, the visitors can tour the entire school including class rooms and labs. In addition, they have the opportunity to talk to the principal of the junior high school, Mrs. Susanne Ronge, and to the parent representatives. Students and teachers from our junior high school will also be happy to answer questions about life and learning at the FESB. Coffee and cake will be served in the cafeteria.
The junior high school was founded 10 years ago in 1998 and was awarded state recognition in 2002. On average there are 25 students per class. Students graduate with the secondary school level certificate after the 10th grade. In 2006, all of our 10th grade students were successful in obtaining their diploma, one year later 96 percent of them did. The total average for students in Berlin is 80 percent.
The junior high school of the FESB is independently operated like our three elementary schools. It is under supervision of the state; our teachers follow the regulations of the Berlin School Law and the curriculum and principles of the FESB. It is operated by an association of Christians from various Protestant and independent Evanglical churches and other Christian communities. The FESB e.V. is a nonprofit membership corporation.
In addition to the junior high school, an elementary school (that celebrates its 20th anniversary this year) and an after-school care center in the Prenzlauer Berg district, the FESB e.V. also runs the “Arche-Grundschule” in Hellersdorf and the “Immanuel-Schule” in Spandau.
