Easter Reception of the FESB e.V. - 20 years of the Free Evangelical Schools in Berlin

As it has become tradition, the board of the association of the Free Evangelical Schools Berlin (FESB) will host an Easter reception on April 3 in the auditorium of the elementary and junior high school on 14 Christburger Straße in the Prenzlauer Berg district.
The bible verse “Seek the welfare of the city…” (Jeremiah 29:7) is the motto of these annual Easter receptions. This year’s reception is also the start of the festivities on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the first FESB elementary school and the 10th anniversary of the junior high school.

The board and members of the association and the staff of the schools at the three Berlin locations want to spend this evening together with parents, alumni, and friends, partners and sponsors from politics, economy and Berlin’s Christian community. They especially want to say “Thank you” for the great cooperation, the spiritual support and friendship, for prayers and not least for the donations and the sacrifices made to support the FESB financially.

Among the guests this evening will be the education spokesman for the CDU party in the Berlin House of Representatives, Sascha Steuer, Mr. W. Michael Ropers, the Berlin representative of the German Telekom, and Dr. Christoph Sprich (Federation of German Industries (BDI)). The hosts want to share about their visions and new plans, as well as reflect upon all that has already been achieved. Refreshments will be served by students from the 10th grade as a part of their home economics/ergonomics class.

The Free Evangelical Schools Berlin (FESB) are state-recognized schools that are independently-operated by an association of born-again Christians from various Protestant and free churches and other Christian communities.

The first elementary school was founded 20 years ago, in 1988. The junior high school exists since 1998. One year later the elementary and junior high school moved to their present location on 14 Christburger Straße in the Prenzlauer Berg district. By now the ensemble of land-marked buildings is owned by the FESB association. In 2006 the state-recognized “Arche-Grundschule” in Hellersdorf and “Immanuel-Schule” in Spandau were opened under the umbrella of the FESB e.V. At present, approximately 500 students attend our schools and we have 106 employees at the three locations. In 2006, all students of the final year graduated from FESB with their secondary school level certificate. One year later, 96 percent of the students graduated successfully from 10th grade. The total average in Berlin is only 80 percent.
