Basis for the Evangelical Alliance’s belief of 1972

The FESB statute and the pedagogical conception were composed by Christians from various evangelical churches in Berlin. The shared foundation is the “Basis for the Evangelical Alliance’s belief of 1972”.

Basis for the Evangelical Alliance’s belief of 1972

Part I: God
We avow to the almightiness and mercy of God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit in creation, revelation, final judgment and perfection.

Part II: The bible
We avow to the Godly inspiration of the holy scripture, its complete soundness and ultimate authority in all questions regarding faith and lifestyle.

Part III: Sin and judgment
We avow to the absolute sinfulness and blame of fallen man, as a result of which he is exposed to God’s anger and condemnation.

Part IV: Jesus’ sacrifice and our redemption
We avow to the representative sacrifice of God’s son who became man, to be the only and all-sufficient foundation for the redemption from guilt and the power of sin and its consequences.

Part V: The exculpation by the Lord who was crucified and resurrected
We avow to the exculpation of the sinner which happens alone by the grace of God and because of faith in Jesus Christ who was crucified and rose from the dead.

Part VI: Salvation, new birth and sanctification
We avow to the work of the Holy Spirit who causes the salvation and new birth of man, who lives within the believer, thus making him holy.

Part VII: The church and its calling
We avow to the priesthood (1. Peter 2,9) of all believers who form the world-wide church, the body whose head is Jesus and who is called by His command to proclaim the gospel to all the world.

Part VIII: The future hope
We avow to the expectation of the personal, visible return of our Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory, to the continued life of men’s God given being, to the resurrection of the body for the judgment and for the eternal life in glory of all His redeemed.
